Our Bouquet on the Cover

We were so excited when the Philadelphia Zoo reached out to us for permission to use our Funky Peacock Feather bouquet on the cover of their new Wedding Brochure. We are so honored and how great would it be to have your wedding at the zoo? I'm hoping that we get to do one there very soon!

This bouquet was created about 6 years ago for a bride having her wedding at the Lambertville Inn. It remains one of our most popular bouquets with requests coming in from all over the country for this bouquet style. The peacock feathers are such a great addition, don't you agree?

Nothing makes me happier than when a bride shares her professional wedding photos like this one sent to us today by our bride Tara.

Taken by Jeff Tisman of Jeff Tisman Photography, this all white bouquet reads like a dream. Garden, tea and spray roses, lisianthus, dahlias and lambs ear combine with cascading touches of ivy trails.

An all white bouquet is always a classic and really looked amazing in this Fairy Tale Themed wedding. Would you consider this style bouquet  for your own wedding?

Funky and Fun

The fall is such an amazing time of year for weddings given the color and flower choices. Take this bouquet for example ~ this includes so many unusual and fun funky flowers such as cymidium and mokara orchids, brunia, pincushion proteas, mini callas, roses and even fern curls. Created for our bride Alicia, it really was the perfect bouquet for her wedding outside at Grounds for Sculpture. I personally think the bouquet itself was a work of art!

I especially loved the different colors and textures and how they combined to give the bouquet movement. As this bouquet is spun around, it looks slightly different on all sides. Although, not for everyone, this bouquet will really be remember by everyone who sees it, don't you think?

Want to schedule a time to come in to talk about your wedding? Now is the time to secure your wedding date for 2014 so be sure to reach out to us for your complimentary consultation over the next few weeks.

Bridal Trends - Cascading OrchidsĀ

As soon as you become involved in the wedding business, one of the first things you notice are flower trends as they come and go. Like fashion, what's in and what's not does seem to change with the seasons and the years.

For example, this year, anything vintage, shabby chic, sophisticated rustic and  southern style country have been very much in style. The flip side of that trend seems to be elegant and classic. Take these centerpieces for our Bride Melissa at the Stone House last weekend. Over sized pilsner vases were filled with river stones for a natural touch but then the vases were filled with cascading phalaenopsis orchids. Although the color them of the wedding was purple in all other areas, this couple went for a clean, uncluttered look by switching the table flowers to all white. Dramatic but elegant was the general feel of the room once all the flowers were in place.

These amazing orchids appear to be an emerging trend among our couples, with quite a few weddings in recent weeks including them. Now that I'm actively booking weddings for 2014, it appears that this trend will continue. Although more expensive than other centerpiece options, they cascading orchids tend to cost less then their dome shaped, above eye level cousins using hydrangeas, roses, etc. which really is a plus for those seeking elegantly over sized without the high price tag. to see these and more of wedding designs, be sure to check out our Centerpiece category on this website.

Personalizing Your Wedding Bouquet

I loved working with bride Jeri for her wedding this wekeend because she is fun loving and has become a great customer. She comes in every week for our $5 Flower special, especially if the flowers are purple ~ her favorite!  It's no surprise to me that she chose to have fun with her wedding bouquet. Aren't the "love birds" she added to the stems adorable?

Bride's often give us items to attach to their bridal bouquets. They each have their reason for doing so. We've added rings, lockets, mini picture frames, hankies, pins, initials, fabric from wedding gowns and have even wrapped the stems in a mans tie that was once worn by the bride father. A sweet way to keep him close to her even though he had passed away and could not walk her down the aisle. Ok, as I sniff and blink back the tears remembering how the bride cried when she asked me to include this sentimental item, it's so nice for me to share in the special day of these amazing women. Each and every one touches me and none more than the ones with a sentimental streak like Jeri. :)

Keeping it Real and Rustic

Do you have a love of Whisky? What about wine? Ever notice those super cool bottles that your favorite "drink" comes in? Why not work them into your wedding centerpieces like our Bride Sharon did with her table arrangements this past fall.

Taking her mixture of bottles along with boxes, tins and other fun rustic containers, we created natural and fun centerpieces for her Stone House wedding reception. What we loved about this particular wedding was the fact that she has a love of anything funky and natural. These table centerpieces used typical flowers such as garden roses and dahlias but then we really went "wild' with elements such as echeveria plants, scabiosa pods, craspedia and herbal elements such as rosemary and then added interesting foliage's such as sword fern and seeded eucalyptus. Most tables had more than one element like this one that had a brass tin, a whiskey bottle and a moss nested succulent plant.

In case you were wondering about the other floral elements, the bouquet pictured below was what the brides maid's carried - mini bouquets of all baby's breath wrapped in twine. The bridal bouquet was also all white with a combination of baby's breath, ranunuculus, hydrangeas and garden roses. Simple and clean was the order of the day for the bouquets but by the time guests made it to the reception, the funky ~ natural centerpiece took center stage for this Sunday afternoon wedding.
